Waiting for Snow
It was mid November,
And the weather man said it would snow,
But did it?
Oh, no, no, NO!
So we sat there with sleds and ski poles,
Just as giddy as new born foals.
Then we decided, “Might as well get a tan since we’re out here.”
So we took of our hats and any other snow gear.
And after a while Mom called us inside,
She had made some of her homemade, hot apple pie.
(Turns out she didn’t put it in the oven,
She baked it outside.)
At that moment we all jumped up and said “Hey!”
Had we just seen snowflakes go by that way?
But no, to our dismay,
It was just Jonny J.
Burning the leaves and the hay.
And the weather continued like this,
Till way, way, way, past Christmas,
When one morn we awoke,
To see some white on the ground,
Was it smoke?
But no,
“It is snow, it is snow!”
We shouted with glee,
And ran outside as if we’d won a free shopping spree.
We skipped to the shed
And pulled out skis, snowboards, and sleds.
Running to the nearest hill,
We swooshed on down,
Our hearts joy filled.
We got snow in our faces,
And held dozens of races.
We made some roly-poly snowmen,
And had a snowball fight-one against ten
Last but not least we built a snow fort,
And then Mom called us in for a chocolate torte!
